Anne Fornerod je výzkumnou ředitelkou v CNRS, přidruženou k UMR Law, Religion, Business and Society (UMR 7354 DRES) na Univerzitě ve Štrasburku.
Spoluvede projekt AMI-SHS ReligiS- Religions et sociétés face aux défis contemporains (Univerzita ve Štrasburku, 2025-2031).
Ve svém výzkumu se zaměřuje na náboženské právo, které spočívá ve studiu právního rámce upravujícího náboženství v současných společnostech. Provádí výzkum právního režimu upravujícího náboženské dědictví, ať už z hlediska jeho budoucnosti, nebo vztahu mezi náboženským a kulturním využitím těchto nemovitých a movitých statků. Zajímá se také o svobodu náboženství, a to jak v judikatuře Evropského soudu pro lidská práva, ve formě duchovní pomoci ve veřejných službách, tak v jejím vztahu ke svobodě projevu. Ve francouzském kontextu se také zabývá právním rámcem islámu. Pravidelně se také věnuje variantám sekularismu ve francouzském právu.
