Krzysztof Tarkowski (*1989) holds PhD in philosophy from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. His doctoral research focused on the tension between mainstream philosophy of science and contemporary social studies of science and technology. His educational background includes philosophy and history, and his research interests include science and technology studies and historical epistemology.

During his stay at CEFRES, he is involved in two projects. In the TANDEM program, he is a part of Contested energy transitions. Conflicts and social innovations in the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, and France project. It aims to provide a better understanding of transition resistance and stakeholder conflicts arising as a result of the EU and national energy transition policies.

Tarkowski also conducts his research named Ontology of Money and the Anthropocene. This project is based on the assumption that our currently dominant perception of what money is and how it works i.e. as a universally tradable good, is a condition of possibility for the contemporary climate and environmental crisis. Hence, the project seeks to challenge our understanding of money by examining historical and contemporary instances of non-classic functionalities. It aims to illustrate the potential to restrict the universality of money by associating it with values and local.
