Roman Dzyk holds a PhD in Philology and currently serves as the Head of the Department of World Literature and Theory of Literature at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. He obtained his bachelor’s degree (2007) and master’s degree (2008) in philology with honors from the same university. In 2012, he successfully defended his PhD thesis in literary theory.

From 2008 to 2022, Roman worked as an assistant at the Department of World Literature and Theory of Literature, subsequently assuming the position of Department Head in 2023. During 2017–2021, he served as the Head of the Council of Young Scientists of the Philological Faculty. Additionally, since 2013, he has held the role of Executive Secretary of the scientific journal “Problems of Literary Criticism”.

Roman has been actively involved in academic conferences and events, serving as a member of the organizing committee for the annual international literary conferences at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University since 2007. He also participated in the XVI International Symposium Contemporary Issues of Literary Studies “Socialist Realism in Literature and Art” (2023, Tbilisi, Georgia). Furthermore, he has attended international doctoral schools at Masaryk University (2019–2020, Brno, Czech Republic) and has presented his research at various international scientific conferences, symposiums and colloquiums in Georgia, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

As a literary editor, Roman has contributed to numerous books by contemporary Ukrainian writers and works by Aharon Appelfeld and Amos Oz. He actively engages in cultural events, having participated in the 25th Book Forum (2018, Lviv) alongside the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter organization. Additionally, he has served as both a lecturer (2018) and moderator (2020) at the Meridian Czernowitz International Literary Festival.

Roman Dzyk is the author of over 70 scholarly papers, reflecting his extensive contributions to the field of literary studies.
