Far from simply offering a new set of tools or producing low-cost stylistic imitations, AI challenges the very foundations of artistic creation: the notions of authorship, originality, aesthetic judgment, and the materiality of art itself.
Drawing inspiration from early dreams of automated creation—from Swift’s mechanical writers to Jaquet-Droz’s 18th-century automatons—the discussions will confront AI not merely as a tool, but as a collaborative, even autonomous, force in artistic production. The conference will address how AI art disrupts traditional categories, generates “metacreativity,” and demands new forms of interpretation in a world saturated with images divorced from human intention.
