Anna Yanenko is a researcher (Head of the Research Department of the History of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra) in the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” (Ukraine), and has been a non-residential fellow at the French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences (CEFRES) since 2024. She is a co-founder and coorganizer the continual Research Seminar on History of the Humanities in Ukraine (an initiative of ICOM Ukraine and the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). She coordinates conferences on history of humanities, archaeology and museums in Ukraine.
She holds a PhD in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology of NAS of Ukraine. She works on the history of humanities, in particular history of Ukrainian museums and history of Ukrainian archaeology in the 1920–1930s, the visual museum history, museum iconography, museums and museum narratives as a tool of Soviet ideology and propaganda, etc. She is a board member of the Ukrainian Association of Archaeologists, the ICOM Ukraine and the International Federation of Public History. She is a TheMuseumsLab 2026 (DAAD) fellow.
