The seminar will highlight the key outcomes from COP29 (Baku, Azerbaijan from 11–22 November 2024), examining the contrasting climate stances of major stakeholders. It will explore the EU’s upcoming climate commitments and the impact of recent political shifts, including the appointment of new EU Commissioners for Climate and Energy and recent US elections. As the European Commission recommends a 90% net greenhouse gas emissions reduction by 2040 compared to 1990 levels, participants will discuss how these recent political developments will shape the EU roadmap.
