Call for application for 2nd year and above PhD students from France and the Visegrad countries
Deadline for submission: March 17, 2024 (call open) Duration: September 1, 2024–August 31, 2025
CEFRES offers year-long fellowships at the center to 2nd year and above PhD students enrolled in universities in France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Fellows’ research should contribute to one of CEFRES’s research areas.
The amount of the fellowship is 12 000 EUR / 300 000 CZK per year.
Good command of English is mandatory, command of French is appreciated. The selected PhD fellows will join CEFRES team in Prague and actively take part in the Center’s scientific life.

The applicants must be French and/or English speakers.
Within its cooperation with the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, CEFRES welcomes MA or PhD students from this faculty as interns. Within its cooperation with the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, CEFRES can welcome MA or PhD students from this faculty as interns starting from the academic year 2016-2017. Internships last from one to three months and grant ECTS credits in the student’s curriculum (1 month-4 ECTS, 2 months-8 ECTS, 3 months-12 ECTS). Every year the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities (InSHS) of the CNRS offers the possibility for researchers to be appointed in a research institute abroad.
Application Package of the CNRS researcher includes:
a research project
an up-to-date CV
a letter of intent
the letter of support and invitation of the director of the research center abroad
the letter of approval of the director of the departed research unit in France[1].
Application deadlines are usually by the end of February-beginning of March each year. Selected candidates are appointed to the research center abroad from the following September.
[1] Meaning the director of the research unit in France to which the CNRS researcher belongs agrees indeed the researcher will become a full researcher at CEFRES.
CEFRES is a UMIFRE – an International Joint Unit, as it is under the tutelage of both CNRS and French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
