The Czech Academy of Sciences (AV ČR) and CEFRES/CNRS are launching this year a new research program called TANDEM based on the CEFRES Platform’s cooperation and endeavour to excellency in social and human sciences.

The aim of the TANDEM program is to associate two researchers, one from the AV ČR, one from the CNRS (French National Research Center) around a joint research project leading to the submission of an ERC project (starting, consolidator, advanced…).
The first TANDEM team will start its work from February 2018 for 2 years. It will be based at CEFRES. ERC projects can be submitted once per year during the appointment of the team at CEFRES.

The constitution of the TANDEM team is planned according to the following agenda

The AV ČR researcher of the TANDEM team will be appointed an extra 50% of his/her work time (0,5 pracovního úvazku) at CEFRES with an extra-salary. He/She will choose the CNRS researcher of the team. He/She may also recruit a post-doctoral researcher co-funded by CEFRES and the Charles University.

30 June 2017: a selection of 3 applicants by a selection committee composed of representatives from the AV ČR, CEFRES and CNRS. The preselection will be based on the excellency of the research projects and their potential for an ERC application. All disciplines of social sciences and humanities are welcome. Reminder: the CNRS Tandem researcher does not need to be stated at this stage of the application. CEFRES can be requested by the applicants for support in their research of a French partner.

1 July 2017: submission by 3 AV ČR pre-selected applicants of a project title and 3-line description for the open call for applications for a post-doctoral researcher at CEFRES co-funded by the Charles University and CEFRES for 2 years from 1 January 2018. The call will be advertised on both Charles University and CEFRES websites (see the 2015 previous CfA).

25 September 2017: deadline for 2nd round applications for the 3 pre-selected AV ČR researchers. The name and details related to their CNRS counterpart within the TANDEM team must be enclosed in the final applications.

2 October 2017: the selection of the TANDEM AV ČR researcher by a mixed commission nominated by AV ČR including the director of CEFRES, and representatives from CNRS and Charles University. The final selection will be based on the potential of the team created by the AV ČR researchers with their CNRS counterparts.

Mid-November 2017: deadline for application of the CNRS researcher of the TANDEM team to CNRS for a 6 month-long research stay at CEFRES (so-called SMI – “Soutien à mobilité internationale” program) from February to August 2018.

1 March 2018: deadline for application of the CNRS researcher of the TANDEM team to CNRS for a 2 year-long appointment at CEFRES from September 2018 (so-called “affectation” program supported by the CNRS).
